Oxford

Since we had German visitors we spent some time showing the sites and on one day we went to Oxford.
Da gibt es ruhige Innenhöfe zum Meditieren.
There are quiet courtyards for contemplation.
Büchereien mit tausenden von Büchern.
Libraries with thousands of books.
The buildings are beautiful and full of history.

Damals und Heute/Then and Now

The weather last weekend was just as perfect as it was then.
Der Ort so träumerisch wie immer.
The place as dreamy as always.
Die Kirche still und friedlich.
The church peaceful and quiet.
Der See zauberhaft mit vielen schönen Erinnerungen....
The lake magical with a lot of happy memories.....

Welcome

Covent Garden

Da gab' es die Covent Garden Ladies aufgeführt im Buch: Harris's List of Covent Garden Ladies - an essential guide and accessory for any serious gentleman of pleasure!
Covent Garden is an interesting area on the edge of the West End of London.  Today it is a tourist attraction with lots of little shops and cafes.
As the name says it used to be a garden.  In 1515 the garden belonged to a convent (covent) hence Covent Garden.  100 years later it was sold and a church and three large houses for wealthy tenants and a square were built.  The church was St Paul's Cathedral.
On the south side of the square was a flower and vegetable market, but over time the area became neglected and turned into a red light district.  The Covent Garden ladies were listed in a book: Harris's list of Covent Garden ladies - an essential guide  and accessory for any serious gentleman of pleasure! - with descriptions of the prostitutes and where to find them.
Todays market halls were built in 1830 and housed the flower wholesale market for England until 1974 when traffic congestion became so bad that the market was relocated to a more accessable area.
In the eighties the halls were converted into small units and outside is a daily market ranging from flea market to handicrafts and antiques.  And there is also always entertainment of some sort.

Cardigan

Jetzt klappt´s!
During my last visit to the Black Forest I bought some pale blue Lana Grossa wool.
It is 85% recycled cotton and 15% cashmere and looks a bit like linen.  It's very easy to knit, but after having done quite a bit I discovered that it's way too big.  Despite knitting a swatch, so I undid it all and started from scratch.  Now it's ok!

Baktus

My first Baktus is finished.
I used 100g Opal sock wool with a high content of cotton which I bought when I visited the factoryshop.
I was expecting it to be a bit longer, but I only had 100g in this colourway and therefore it just had to be long enough as it is.
I'm quite happy with the result, but for Winter I have plans for some bigger ones.
Liebe Grüße
