Washi Egg Anleitung

Washi Eier sind eine japanische Tradition und werden normalerweise mit Washi (Origami) Papier gemacht.  Ich habe hier Geschenkpapier benützt, da ich kein Washi Papier da hatte.

Washi Eggs are an old japanese craft and normally one uses Washi (Origami) paper.  I have used gift wrap here as I had no Washi paper to hand.

Hier ist die Zutatenliste.

These are the supplies you will need.

Als erstes habe ich mir ein Massband aus Papier gemacht, da es flexibler ist (17cm).

First I made a tape measure of paper as it's more flexible (17cm).

Den Umfang des Eies und die Länge messen.

Measure the circumference and length of the egg.

Das Papier 5mm größer als die Maße zuschneiden.  Einmal der Länge nach falten, dann nochmals falten.

Cut the paper 5mm bigger than the measurements.  Fold lengthways, and fold again.

Der zweiten Falte entlang einen Strich ziehen.  Einen weiteren Strich ziehen zwischen dem ersten Strich und dem Bruch.  Diese Linie alle 7mm markieren.

Draw a line along the first fold.  Draw a further line between the first line and the fold.  Mark every 7mm along that line.

Bis zum markierten Strich schneiden. Jede Seite dann so zuschneiden, daß ein Zickzack entsteht.

Cut down all along to the marked line.  Trim the side of each strip at an angle down to the first line.

Das Papier sieht aufgeklappt dann so aus und sollte das Ei umhüllen.

The open paper looks like this and should envelop the egg easily.

Die Mitte des Eies mit Kleber bepinseln und das Papier drauf kleben.  Mehr Kleber am Ende auftragen, dann die Streifen, einer nach dem Anderen, vorsichtig zum Ende hin streichen, so daß keine Falten entstehen.  Nach Bedarf mehr Kleber auftragen und langsam um das Ei herum arbeiten.

Apply glue to the middle of the egg and glue on the paper.  Apply more glue at the end and carefully smooth each strip, one by one, onto the egg trying to avoid creases.  If needed apply more glue and work your way slowly around the egg.

Das Papier, solange es noch feucht ist,  mit einem Löffel glatt streichen und dann lackieren.  Ich lackiere meine mit 10 Schichten.  Das gibt Glanz und das Ei ist widerstandsfähiger.

Smooth the paper all over with a spoon while it is still damp and then lacquer.  I apply 10 layers which gives a lovely sheen and protects.

Hier hat der Osterhase schon ein paar auf der Wiese verteilt!
