The second weaving lesson proved just as much fun as the first.
Die zweite Stunde hat so viel Spass gemacht wie die Erste.
Having got the warp ready to put on the loom I could not really imagine how all those threads could possibly get onto the loom!
Nachdem die Kette vorbereitet war konnte ich mir nicht vorstellen wie die ganzen Fäden denn nun auf den Webstuhl kommen sollten!
Having already attached the cross the week before the threads were pulled through the reed (the thing that looks like an egg slicer). My sample has only 72 threads, but it's not a fast business!
Nachdem das Kreuz letzte Woche schon befestigt wurde mussten die Fäden jetzt durch das Reed (??) gezogen werden (das Ding das wie ein Eierschneider aussieht). Mein Muster hat nur 72 Fäden, aber es dauert trotzdem ewig!
Next the yarn has to pass through the heddles, which are the long needle looking things with eyes in the middle.
Als nächstes muss das Garn durch die Litzen. Die sehen wie lange Nadeln aus mit dem Nadelöhr in der Mitte.
Once all that is done the warp ends have to be secured onto the warp beam.
Danach kann man die Kettfäden am Kettbaum befestigen.
And when I came up for air after all that two hours had passed! I have no idea how!!
Und als ich zum Luft holen kam waren zwei Stunden vorbei!! Keine Ahnung wie!!
At this point it was time for a break and just as we sat down two visitors arrived to help along with proceedings.
Das war der Zeitpunkt für eine Pause und gerade als wir es uns bequem gemacht haben kamen zwei Besucher zum Helfen.
One was another student who was doing tapestry weaving and the other was a very experienced weaver full of helpful hints and lovely distractions. We had such a laugh!
Die Eine lernt gerade Gobelin Weberei und die Andere ist eine sehr erfahrene Weberin die voller guter Ratschläge war und uns herrlich abgelenkt hat. Was haben wir gelacht!
After all that I totally forgot to take a picture of my final small weaving sample!!

Deshalb habe ich total vergessen ein Photo von meinem gewebten Pröbchen zu machen!!

What a great post! Thanks for sharing it with us. It sounds like you've found a great place to learn how to weave. You know, weaving isn't a fast hobby, but it's very rewarding. There are so many neat yarns/patterns to try so it just never gets boring.
