Jester Bag

Some time ago I tried my first felting project.  I knitted a beautiful bag, put it in the washing machine and took out a disaster.  Totally ruined and not one centimetre was usable!  I said "never again!".
Then I saw a jester bag at an exhibition from Sheepfold and the lady on the stand said it was easy to make and I should buy the kit.  No, I said, not doing that again, won't work, total waste of time.  I bought it, knitted, felted and looked on in ASTONISHMENT!  Out of the washing machine came this lovely bag.

Rug Warp

I have been sorting out the warp for my rug for some time now.
Today I hope to at least make a start on the test weave.

Tunika

Last year I bought this sock wool from the Opal factory shop and decided to knit a long cardigan, but then decided to knit a tunic/dress.
I started as usual without a pattern and cast on 160 stitches to knit conventionally from the bottom up and finished the back and front pieces.  I measured a lot to be sure it would fit.
Most sleeves I knit from the top down, so too this time.  The sleeves were almost finished when I thought the whole thing looked odd and decided to tack the sides together so that I could try it on properly.  Everything fitted, except... around the bottom it looked like Jennifer Lopez at the Oscars.  Except that she's 20 years younger!!!  Oh dear, the whole thing was nearly complete and I didn't know what to do.  Then I read an article somewhere about the things to consider to avoid such mishaps.  Well, I did, and it fitted, but it didn't look at all nice around the bottom.  I decided to write a mail to this lady with some photos (not included here!!).  She responded quite quickly and agreed that it all fitted beautifully, except the bit under the bottom...  She advised me to simply cut off the skirt part from the hip down and then knit from the top down increasing as I went.  This was pretty hairy and I had never done that, but it was no good the way it was, so I got the scissors and carefully unpicked it stitch by stitch, put the stitches back on a needle and knitted again.
Now it's finished and I wear it on top of Jeans and am really glad I had the courage to chop it up.

Unplanned

Since it was a beautiful day we decided to quickly go to a nearby farm to look at the newborn lambs and alpacas and then get home to spend the rest of the day doing domestic chores.
Some of the lambs were only 2 hours old and dozing in the sunshine whilst others were already skipping along in the grass.
The alpacas were very nosey and of course I had to buy some fleece for spinning!
Then we thought seeing we're already out we might as well go to a nearby town to buy something.  Won't take long!  When we arrived at the car park there we saw this contraption and had to investigate.  Once inside they put aprons on us and gave us cooking utensils and said we were just in time to cook lunch.  So we cooked with the latest AEG equipment.  The food was good too(no time for photos)!
Yes, I also managed to order the fabric sample for the new curtains and then the day was pretty much done... but we had a lot of fun and tomorrow is another day!

Rug Wool

On my last trip to the Black Forest I planned a visit to the wool factory of Traub.  Now that the weaving course is finished I decided to weave a rug.  I thought I'd start small with 1.70m by 1.20m!!
This was not as bad as Opal last year, but the temptation is enormous.  I was relatively disciplined and bought (almost) only what was on my list.  Huge assortment and very good prices, especially for their own Traubwool.  They also have looms, spinning wheels and all accessories.
My idea was that I would pack the 9kg of wool in my suitcase, which was total nonsense of course.  The weight would have been fine, but I hadn't visualised the volume!!  So they shipped it all, for less than the luggage at Easyjet would have cost, and it arrived within 3 days.
This was definitely not my last visit there!  And I know that there are certain people who will laugh at my growing non-stash!!
