Tasche/Bag

Some time ago I wrote about experimenting with printing on cotton fabric in the inkjet printer.  I used freezer paper on that occasion.  This time I drew my own motif with mrdoob.
I then ironed stiff interfacing onto some white cotton fabric, inserted it into the printer and printed straight onto it.  This fabric was intended for the flap of a bag.
I embellished some of the circles with machine stitch - well, not entirely round!
I used cotton fabric for the entire bag, inside and out.
The strap I attached with Kamsnaps - super fast!
Ta-dah, the finished little bag with my own printed fabric.
It was fun!

Fisch am Freitag/Fish on Friday

Danke, meine liebe Mama.
After a bit of a break I'm joining Fish on Friday once again.
My fish is made of metal and has beautiful colours.  On one side is a little opening for a tea light.
He also looks lovely hanging up from the pergola.
 Thank you, my dear Mama.
Liebe Grüße

Mohnblumen/Poppies

The poppies have just come out in the garden.  They are one of my favourite flowers.  I love all the different varieties, whether in the garden or wild.
I have different types which come again every year and I let them all grow.  None of them were ever planted by me, but every year new ones arrive.
I am totally fascinated when the buds pop and the scrunched up petals appear and all the other things that find room in there.  Although the bee must have arrived later!!
Now, finally, we have some rain after weeks of drought.

Opal Factory Shop

Die Opal Fabrik ist in Hechingen auf der Schwäbischen Alb.  Landschaftlich einfach herrlich gelegen.
The Opal factory is in a town called Hechingen.  The landscape in that area is quite beautiful.
On the edge of the town is a castle called Burg Hohenzollern which is the home of the Prussian nobility.  The castle sits atop a hill surveying the countryside and it looks just like one would imagine from descriptions of fairy tales.

The factory building looks very unassuming and I wondered if I had come to the wrong place.
I used to have a lot of dealings with fabric producers in that neighbourhood and had also come across their factory shops.  They were basically warehouses which had some tills and counters to make it look more like a shop.  So, I expected something similar here, but was totally amazed when I saw the shop.
Colour, colour and more colour!  It was overwhelming.  The photos don't do it justice.  The whole place was beautifully decorated and I have never seen such a wonderful wool shop anywhere.
Apart from the wool they sell in-house magazines with patterns, all the accessories and some ready knitted socks and garments.

I have never knitted with Opal wool and was a bit fazed by all the stuff on offer and decided to take it slowly the first time, knowing for sure that I will go back there.
I bought 400g of a cotton sock wool for both socks and a baktus.  500g of hand dyed skeins for a longer cardigan/jacket.  Anyone got any ideas for a pattern?
I also wanted to try out felting and bought 150g for that.
All that cost just under 50 Euro.
Liebe Grüße

Wieder im anderen Zuhause/Back in the other home

It's always lovely to go to the Black Forest, but especially at this time of year.
I love the market with all their fresh produce.  In England the choise is more limited and everything is picked before it's ripe.

We went to the vegetable island on Lake Constance - Reichenau.  The weather was perfect.

And here a view towards Switzerland.
And then I went to the factory outlet of Opal wool, but I will write a separate post about that!
Liebe Grüße

Filztiere/Felt animals

I had hardly arrived when the postman brought this letter.
This little guy was attached to the envelope with kind words from Madame Swig from Paris.
Thanks for the lovely postcards of the felted zoo!
