Jester Bag

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich mein erstes Filzprojekt ausprobiert.  Ich habe eine schöne Tasche gestrickt, in die Waschmaschine gesteckt und eine Katastrophe heraus gezogen.  Total unbrauchbar und es war nicht mal ein Zentimeter zu retten!  Da hab' ich mir geschworen "nie wieder!".

Some time ago I tried my first felting project.  I knitted a beautiful bag, put it in the washing machine and took out a disaster.  Totally ruined and not one centimetre was usable!  I said "never again!".

Dann sah ich bei einer Ausstellung eine Harlequintasche von Sheepfold und die Dame am Stand sagte es sei leicht zu machen und ich solle doch das Kit kaufen.  Nein, sagte ich, da hab' ich keinen Bock drauf, funktioniert nicht, totale Zeitverschwendung.  Langer Rede kurzer Sinn ich nahm das Ding mit und habe gestrickt, gefilzt und GESTAUNT!  Aus der Waschmaschine kam diese tolle Tasche.

Then I saw a jester bag at an exhibition from Sheepfold and the lady on the stand said it was easy to make and I should buy the kit.  No, I said, not doing that again, won't work, total waste of time.  I bought it, knitted, felted and looked on in ASTONISHMENT!  Out of the washing machine came this lovely bag.

Alte Jeans/Old Jeans

 Ich habe eine alte Jeans zur Tasche umfunktioniert.  Einfach die Beine abgeschnitten, verziert und gefüttert und die Träger mit Kamsnaps angebracht.  Fertig!

 I have turned an old pair of Jeans into a bag.  I just cut off the legs, decorated and lined it and attached the straps with kamsnaps (poppers). Done!

Tasche/Bag

Neulich habe ich doch hier stolz berichtet wie einfach es ist seinen eigenen Stoff zu drucken und verwerten.  Was ich noch nicht berichtet habe ist was passiert wenn man sich am Flughafen die Hände wäscht und das gute Teil bespritzt!!

Tja, totale Katastrophe!  Ein Spritzer und sämtliche Farben sind verlaufen und ausgewaschen, außer schwarz und gelb.

Sometime ago I proudly announced here how easy it is to print your own fabric.  What I haven't mentioned yet is what happens when you wash your hands at the airport and get a bit of water on it! 
Total disaster!  One drip and all the colours ran into each other and washed away, except for black and yellow.

Jetzt habe ich eine neue Klappe für die Tasche genäht, von gekauftem Stoff.
I have now made a new front piece for the bag with purchased fabric.

Auch noch ein paar Perlen drauf gestickt und Gebommels angebracht.
I added a few beads and attached a dangly thingy.

Wenn wir nächste Woche wieder am Flughafen sind werde ich das Teil dann auch gleich nochmal am Waschbecken  wassertesten!!!

When we're at the airport next week I shall carry out my watertest at the basin!!!

 

Tasche/Bag

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich schon mal über das Bedrucken mit dem Inkjet Drucker auf Baumwollstoff geschrieben.   Und zwar habe ich das mit Hilfe von Freezer Papier gemacht.  Bei diesem Projekt habe ich mit mrdoob mein eigenes Motiv gemalt.

Dieses Mal habe ich einen weißen Baumwollstoff auf feste Vlieseline gebügelt und dies direkt in den Drucker gesteckt und gedruckt.  Das wollte ich für die Klappe einer Tasche verwenden.

Ein paar der Kreise habe ich noch nachgenäht - nicht ganz rund!!  :)

Die Tasche ist aus Baumwollstoff, innen und außen.

Den Gurt habe ich mit Kamsnaps angebracht - super schnell!

Ta-dah, fertiges Täschchen mit selbstgedrucktem Stoff.

 Hat Spaß gemacht!

Some time ago I wrote about experimenting with printing on cotton fabric in the inkjet printer.  I used freezer paper on that occasion.  This time I drew my own motif with mrdoob.

I then ironed stiff interfacing onto some white cotton fabric, inserted it into the printer and printed straight onto it.  This fabric was intended for the flap of a bag.

I embellished some of the circles with machine stitch - well, not entirely round!

I used cotton fabric for the entire bag, inside and out.

The strap I attached with Kamsnaps - super fast!

Ta-dah, the finished little bag with my own printed fabric.

It was fun!

Isabella

 

Schon lange habe ich das Isabella Muster da liegen, aber habe mich nicht ran getraut.

Jetzt habe ich per Zufall einen Fasnachtsstoff gefunden und hatte auf einmal Lust es zu probieren.

Ich habe auch im Januar eine neue Nähmaschine gekauft, so dass es an der Zeit war die mal richtig auszuprobieren.

 For ages I have been looking at this pattern, but worried about how difficult it was.

Then I happened to find a carneval fabric which inspired me to give it a go.

Also, I bought a new sewing machine in January and thought it was high time to really use it.  Compared to my old one (30 years old) it is like the space age!
