Jinxed oder einfach nur zum Heulen?

Felting isn't really quite my thing it seems.  I have had various attempts now.  I knitted a lovely bag that turned to disaster as the whole thing felted on itself.  That was Austermann wool.  I had another go with a kit from the UK and had a great result.

Filzen scheint nun wirklich nicht mein Ding zu sein.  Ich habe es verschiedentlich probiert.  Ich habe eine schoene Tasche gestrickt und das ganze Ding hat sich in sich selbst verfilzt.  Das war Wolle von Austermann.  Dann habe ich es nochmal probiert mit einem Kit von England und das war super.

Having just done some wet felted slippers which were soso I thought I'd have another go at the knitted variety, but this time using the UK wool for the heel end and the Austermann for the toe end.  Well!!  See for yourself...!!!!!  Back end fine, front disaster.

Nachdem ich neulich bei einem Workshop zum Nassfilzen war und die Hausschuhe soso waren habe ich nochmal die gestrickte Methode probiert, aber fuer die Ferse mit der UK Wolle und die Spitze wieder Austermann.  Ja, hallo!  Seht selbst....!!!  Ferse gut, Zehen Katastrophe.

 

Jester Bag

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich mein erstes Filzprojekt ausprobiert.  Ich habe eine schöne Tasche gestrickt, in die Waschmaschine gesteckt und eine Katastrophe heraus gezogen.  Total unbrauchbar und es war nicht mal ein Zentimeter zu retten!  Da hab' ich mir geschworen "nie wieder!".

Some time ago I tried my first felting project.  I knitted a beautiful bag, put it in the washing machine and took out a disaster.  Totally ruined and not one centimetre was usable!  I said "never again!".

Dann sah ich bei einer Ausstellung eine Harlequintasche von Sheepfold und die Dame am Stand sagte es sei leicht zu machen und ich solle doch das Kit kaufen.  Nein, sagte ich, da hab' ich keinen Bock drauf, funktioniert nicht, totale Zeitverschwendung.  Langer Rede kurzer Sinn ich nahm das Ding mit und habe gestrickt, gefilzt und GESTAUNT!  Aus der Waschmaschine kam diese tolle Tasche.

Then I saw a jester bag at an exhibition from Sheepfold and the lady on the stand said it was easy to make and I should buy the kit.  No, I said, not doing that again, won't work, total waste of time.  I bought it, knitted, felted and looked on in ASTONISHMENT!  Out of the washing machine came this lovely bag.

Filztiere/Felt animals

Kaum war ich angekommen stand auch schon der Postbote vor der Tür mit diesem Brief.

I had hardly arrived when the postman brought this letter.

 Dieses kleine Kerlchen baumelte am Umschlag mit lieben Worten von Madame Swig aus Paris.

 This little guy was attached to the envelope with kind words from Madame Swig from Paris.

Geschnippeltes/Chopped

Heute habe ich mal Filz geschnippelt.  Ostern kommt ja auch bald!

 Die Anleitung habe ich hier gefunden.  Es ist zwar in Englisch, aber die Fotos sind ausreichend.

Ich hatte keinen 3mm dicken Filz und habe deshalb 2 Farben pro Vogel  benutzt, und das Loch für den Aufhänger mittig gemacht, da der Vogel sonst schief hängt.
Ausserdem habe ich beim Knipsen der Löcher noch dickes Papier unterlegt, damit der Filz sauber geschnitten wird.

Today I chopped up felt.  Easter is coming!

I found the pattern on the Artmind blog.  It's in English, but the pictures are self explanatory.

I didn't have 3mm thick felt and therefore used 2 colours for each bird and changed the hole for the hanger to the middle, as it wouldn't have hung straight otherwise.

I also used some card under the felt for cutting the holes to make sure it cut the felt cleanly.
